Sweet Chocolate Cherry Bombs - ok, Love is a strong word, but I liked them. Made some w/o cherries (mr. doesn't like them), taste like ho ho's.


  • 1 Pillsbury Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tub Pillsbury Classic White Frosting*
  • 50 Maraschino Cherries with stems
  • 16 oz. tempered semi-sweet chocolate (or dark confectionery coating/candy melts)

  1. I tried this. Made my own true and tried chocolate cake, made my own chocolate buttercream. It was awesome. Sent a whole box to my husbands office and they ate it all up. Be careful adding the icing with your crumbled cake. Add it slowly or you might end up with too wet of a mixture. I recommend, after the freezing point, taking only 4 'bombs' at a time to dip in melted chocolate. Otherwise, the bombs might get the chance to soften up and your melted chocolate will end up with cake crumbs. The stems actually held up (while still frozen) dipping in the melted chocolate and I was able to use it to sort of swing the bombs a bit to shake off extra coating.
